A new drug has been launched in the United Kingdom recently with the name of Cialis and is being suspected as a strong rival of the famous drug Viagra. Like Viagra,, Cialis is also a drug for men suffering from ED – Erectile Dysfunction but its effects last for 24 hours, enabling men to have sex at all times of the day. On the contrary, Viagra is a drug that has to be taken around 1 hour before the patient engages in sexual activity and its effects last for four hours only. Unlike Viagra, Cialis will enable men to have sex spontaneously as the drug’s effects will last all day and the patient will achieve erection once he is sexually aroused. In the United Kingdom, Cialis is being manufactured by “Lilly UK”.
When a man is sexually stimulated by any way- thoughts, sight, or physical sensations, the brain gets stimulated and ends up sending nerve impulses to the penis. As a result, few chemical messengers are released in the body (medically termed as vasodilators), that cause expansion of the blood vessels of the penis. This increase in the blood flow to the penis results in its erection. These messengers are also released in men suffering from erectile dysfunction but their body fails to respond fully to them at that concentration and they need greater concentration of these messengers to receive erection. The enzyme, PDE5 present in the body is actually responsible for controlling the concentration of those chemical messengers in the body. It is mainly responsible for the breakdown of those chemical messengers. Cialis is actually responsible for preventing the degradation of the chemical messengers in the body, thus prolonging and amplifying their effect. Consequently, the blood keeps on flowing in greater quantity to the penis, enabling the man to have an erection for longer duration.
Dr Wright is a physician in Durham. According to him, Cialis has made sex more spontaneous for patients of erectile dysfunction; its long duration of action helps the man in forgetting that he is dependant over a tablet for sexual intercourse. It also allows couples to have sex at any time of the day according to Dr David Ralph, a consultant urologist at the Institute of Urology, London. According to the famous psychologist at Glasgow Caledonian University, Dr Cynthia McVey, "Intimacy tends to go with the problem of erectile dysfunction. It has to be rebuilt." Surely, Cialis is just what patients suffering from Erectile Dysfunction were looking and longing for. The drug is also helpful in rebuilding the patients self confidence and self esteem, and relieving the patient from stress, anxiety and depression according to Peter Baker, of the Men's Health Forum.
In the United Kingdom, over 2 million men are suffering from ED (Erectile dysfunction) but the number of men who seek medical help to resolve the problem is just 10 percent of this number. According to Ann Tailor, director of the Impotence Association Ann Tailor, director of the Impotence Association Ann Tailor, director, Impotence Association, the reason behind this is the patient feels embarrassed talking about it.
